This is an update to WNBR riders for the London ride.

If anyone reading this is free today (Sunday), we recommend coming to the
Camden Green Fair (12-7pm in Regent's Park, FREE). We'll have a stall
there, and if you can drop by to help pass out some leaflets we'd be very
grateful. http://www.camdengreenfair.org.uk

Cheers,
Jesse

1. Assembly Issues
2. Body Painting
2. New non-circular route
3. Extended Ride Option (starts noon in Sipson)

*ASSEMBLY ISSUES*

At each of the past 6 London WNBR events, riders have complained of nuisance
photographers at the assembly area. While our riders are all happy to have
their photos taken during the ride itself, many don't want to be
photographed as they prepare for the ride (while undressing, applying body
paint, visiting with friends). We've tried various solutions in the past,
including the photo policy which will remain in effect (see
http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org/index.php?title=London_photography_policyfor
details). However, feedback from riders (particularly younger female
ones) suggests that some photographers will ignore any requests for
reasonable behaviour. For this reason, we advise rides to try to offer
mutual support if you see a rider who is unhappy. Additionally, it's the
best way to avoid having a bad experience with these photographers is to
remain covered until the ride has reached the street. In general the
spectators and photographers are well behaved, but a small minority are very
problematic. Plenty of riders don't experience or witness any bad
behaviour, but it does happen, so let's all look out for each other.

*BODY PAINTING*

There are places in London where you can buy professional body paint that is
not oil based. We recommend you use this because it's safe, doesn't come
off when you sweat, and looks great. It's better value for money than
buying cheap children's party face paints - although each colour costs about
£5-10, you get a lot of paint coverage with the professional paint. The
professional body paint that is oil based only comes off with special makeup
remover, so we recommend non-oil body paint which comes off with warm water
and soap. Brands to look for !!!include!!! Ben Nye, Fardel, and Kryolan.

Here is a list of places in London you can get professional body paint (also
most fancy dress shops stock some)
http://www.fancydress.com/content/london_store
http://www.screenface.com
http://www.charlesfox.co.uk
http://www.makeup-provisions.com

In previous years, we've provided a body painting area at the ride assembly,
but we've changed the arrangement this year. If you wish to paint your body
with slogans/designs, we invite you to come to our pre-ride painting
location. This will be a drop in
arrangement, where you simply come to the painting location, and paint
yourself (or paint a friend).

We will have some stencilled slogans on hand, so messages can be quickly
applied to people's backs. This worked very effectively last year. If you
wish to design your own stencil, we recommend using craft stencil paper
(which is less prone to degrading with repeated use). Keep an eye on the
website for details of the specific location for the painting picnic. We
are likely to publicise a phone number to call in order to find the painting
location.

Unlike the arrangements in previous years, we must insist that you keep your
genitals, rear and breasts covered during the painting. This will avoid the
nuisance photographers from intruding on the painting. If you wish to do a
full body painting, we recommend doing this in a private location well away
from Hyde Park. Our positive relationship with Hyde Park is dependent on
keeping our clothes on until the 3pm assembly. Note: If this relationship
deteriorates, there might not be an alternative space big enough to hold the
ride assembly.
*
NEW ROUTE*

We have a new non-circular 2010 London route. The process of finalising
this route has involved a lot of work from a small group of volunteers, and
a series of communications between other WNBR volunteers who liaised with
police and parks authorities. While we hoped to present the finalised route
sooner, it's taken until this week to iron out the details. The London
route has changed to be linear in response to construction (crossrail and
roadworks) complicating the traditional return via Oxford Street. Also, we
felt that it would be interesting to have a change to the route (which has
stayed much the same for the past 5 rides). The new route finishes near to
Tower Bridge (not City Hall).

The new route is somewhat quieter in sections, as we'll be passing through
the city of London for the first time. We'll still pass plenty of Londoners
and tourists on the route, and there are spectacular city sites throughout
the route. The police won't be providing traffic control this year (due to
budgetary restrictions), so we're fortunate that the new route benefits from
less car traffic in the second half. We'll pass a number of major city
landmarks, and I think this may be one of the most memorable ecological
demonstrations to pass through the world's economic center, the City of
London.

The new route is about 3 miles longer than in previous years. For the
stronger cyclists in the group, there is even the option of joining the
pre-ride Sipson extension (which adds another 15 miles to the WNBR, and
starts at noon). Participation in the Sipson to Hyde Park extension is by
pre-registration only. Details are copied below.

Extended ride option

*Sipson Ride Extension (full route of 25 miles)* An optional 15.5 mile
extension to the main WNBR route will be available for experienced cyclists.
This ride will depart at noon from the very western edge of London. It will
travel 15.5 miles in order to join the core ride assembly at 3pm in Hyde
Park.

*Reason for the extended ride* The Sipson Ride Extension will allow riders
to demonstrate their support for the campaigners who saved the village of
Sipson (which was due to be demolished to allow a third Heathrow runway to
be built). The riders will broadly follow the route of proposed "cycling
superhighway" #9, as a gesture of support for implementing infrastructure
for cyclists in London.

*Requirements for riders in Sipson ride* In order to participate in the
Sipson Ride Extension, you must have strong cycling skills, good equipment,
and good fitness. Riders are required to pre-register if they wish to join
the 25 mile route. It is important that you test your equipment beforehand,
and check that you are ready for a ride of more than 20 miles. The route has
few hills, but you'll be on your bike for hours. The Sipson Ride Extension
will have minimal support 1-2 stewards. You will have to abandon the ride
and find your own way if you experience equipment failure or don't have the
stamina to keep up.

*Pre-registration required for Extended ride* To preregister, contact
sipson@wnbr.org.uk

We are anticipating a group of 15-40 cyclists will travel the extended WNBR
London route from Sipson to Tower Bridge. Please note: The rail stations
nearest to Sipson are several miles away. Riders will need to allow ample
time to reach the ride assembly location before noon.

POLICE PRESENCE ON THE LONDON WNBR

Yes, the police won't be accompanying us on the ride. This is the decision
they took in 2005 also. There are only a limited number of officers
available on Saturday, and the decision was made to allocate them to other
duties (such as Trooping the Colour, World Cup related police presence,
etc).

Although we have four times larger a number than we did in 2005, the police
are confident that we'll be able to manage without them. This wasn't a
decision they made lightly, but it was bound to happen eventually. Our
riders are generally very respectful toward each other and to spectators.
Spectators are usually quite charmed and delighted to see the ride pass.
It's easy to see how the police felt the ride would take place without
incident.

Because the police won't be regulating traffic, we'll occasionally have the
front of the ride get separated from the back. When this happens, the front
will try to wait for the back of the ride to catch up. Other than this, and
the fact that police won't be visible, we're expecting the ride to proceed
as usual.

Police along the route will have been notified of our event, and are
prepared to respond if we notify them about an incident.

STEWARDS NEEDED URGENTLY!

As a consequence of the reduced police presence, we're in urgent need of
some extra stewards. If you (or a friend) might be able to offer stewarding
between 1pm and 6pm, please get in touch. Requirements are - Good diplomacy
with strangers, willingness to be fully clothed during the ride, roadworthy
bike, and good bike handling skills. We need Stewards to turn up at 1pm for
a pre-ride briefing. We still need quite a few more stewards to help keep
the ride in formation. Please contact John if you can help steward the
London ride -* john@golgotha.org.uk* or on *07957 231 044*

J'ai pu filmé quelques images , assez amusantes.
Voici une image vu sur le web
